For supporting our team, we are seeking a
with two to five years of experience in drafting U.S. applications and prosecuting applications before the USPTO for a position as an associate in our main offices in Munich, Germany.
A physics background is preferred, but candidates with an electrical engineering background will also be considered. Candidates must possess a degree in physics or electrical engineering (Master's degree, Doctorate, or equivalent scientific or technical work experience strongly preferred) and a J.D. or equivalent, have strong writing skills in English, and be licensed to practice before the USPTO and in at least one U.S. state.
U.S. citizenship is required, since candidates will need to be able to keep their registration to practice before the USPTO while living abroad. No German language skills are required, but candidates must be prepared to learn enough German to function in society and to meet requirements for a long-term residence visa.
The successful candidate will work in a small U.S. team within the firm's Physics and Electrical Engineering department to assist European and Asian clients with preparing and prosecuting U.S.-style applications and with coordinating their world-wide patent prosecution activities.
Compensation will depend on experience, but will generally be commission-based. The firm's U.S. team in Munich offers candidates a pleasant work environment and good work/life balance.
